The Laundry Room (Phase 1)

When we moved into this house, the room that I disliked most was this random laundry hall/room area. It is a really strange long hall that was DARK brown with wood paneling, and it had almost 0 natural light. The room was lined with cabinets, which were nice for storage, but the cabinets were also a lovely shade of dark brown. Le sigh.
Meet...the before:

I don't mind if you nod and we all verbally agree on the ugliness of this room. Seriously.

BUT.... one night when Rob was away hiking, my mom and I got a wild hair and decided to paint the entire room. We painted the paneling white, the top peach, and the cabinets gray. I won't lie...it was a LOOOONG process (mostly because we also decided to paint the entire kitchen that night), but it was SO worth it! I no longer cringe when I walk into the room. The new, light colors actually add a sense of natural light to the room. Thankfully, Rob didn't hate the pink peach color that we chose, and he has even said that it was the #1 paint job in the house that has made the biggest difference in how the entire house feels. Ready for the big reveal?

TA-DA!!!!!

Oh, and did you notice the newly polka-dotted dryer? I fell in love with this tutorial: HERE.
And I'm totally on the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" team, so I did mine EXACTLY like theirs (with the exception of owning a really awesome washing machine. Mine is still kinda ancient (If it ain't broke, don't fix it...know what I'm sayin?).

...AND if you noticed that I said that this was Phase 1 of the laundry room, that is because we plan to turn the cabinets into a HUGE closet this summer, eventually buy front loaders and put them in a hidden closet, and turn the spot that they are currently in into a mudroom of sorts because there is a door just beyond the washing machine that leads out to our back deck.

Just like the rest of our house, this room is always a work in progress. After a wonderful day of church, family time, and pizza for dinner, I'm ready to snuggle up to my number uno and our sweet pup and read a book. I hope that your Sunday was as wonderful as mine! :)
